Bolts Add A Hockey Lifer To The Staff

Thomas will mentor Bolt prospects

Lightning GM Steve Yzerman recruited a twenty year NHL veteran and former teammate to mentor his young prospects. Former forward Steve Thomas hired in as a player development consultant for the Bolts. He will work primarily with the Lightning junior and college players. Thomas played in 1,235 NHL games over his two decade career.

“His long and successful career combined with tremendous character and personality means he will be a great asset as we look to better develop our young players. He will be a big part of the long-term success of the Tampa Bay Lightning,” said Yzerman of Thomas.

“Stumpy” had over 900 points in his career, including 107 points in 174 playoff games.

“I am truly excited to be a part of the Lightning organization in this capacity,” the 47 year old Thomas said. “I feel that I have a lot to offer in the development of our young players, helping them make as easy a transition as possible.”

This is another great character hire by the Lightning brass.
