Packing For Prague: Bruins To Start 2010-11 Season In Europe

David Krejci is one of the Bruins hailing from the Czech Republic, where the Bruins will reportedly start their 2010-11 season.
If the NHL isn’t pushing the Boston Bruins as the Eastern Conference’s version of the Chicago Blackhawks, then I’m apparently crazy. Just 15 days after the 2010 Winter Classic at Fenway Park, it appears the Bruins are set for another classic of sorts as they’ll open their 2010-11 season in the city of Prague in the Czech Republic.
The NHL’s third installation of the European tour, the Boston Bruins are reportedly scheduled to face off against the Phoenix Coyotes of the Western Conference, a team they have not beaten since 2007-08.
Currently, the Bruins have two players hailing from the Czech Republic in centers David Krejci and Vladimir Sobotka. While Krejci is a near-lock to be a member of the Bruins for next season, it’s still unclear whether the 5’11″ ball-of-energy known as Sobotka will be a member of the team as he in a contract year and could be thrown in a deadline-deal.
The start in Prague can only mean one thing: the Bruins are starting the 2010 campaign early once again. Will the Bruins come out of the gate exhausted much like the Detroit Red Wings, or will the team gel instantly from their experience overseas and tear through their schedule like the Chicago Blackhawks?
For the time being, it simply doesn’t matter. But it’s going to be quite an adjustment when we’re all watching the season-opener from our couches at 12 o’clock in the afternoon.
