The Blackhawks play the New York Islanders tonight, followed by their first back-to-back games of this young NHL season versus the lowly Buffalo Sabres.
Fast Feather Friday is something I’m going to do from time to time to get you quickly set up for the weekend. I’ll pose quick stats/facts and slightly entertaining banter as well as conversation starters.
Here we go:
~ Coach Q is looking to find the missing chemistry with his forwards as he has shaken, not stirred the bottom 6. He’ll roll: Kruger-Shaw-Saad & Bollig-Nordstrom-Smith tonight.
~ Kruger’s less than impressive faceoff performance has landed him on the wing in my opinion.
~ It was Nordstrom’s versatility to play all 3 forward positions (most importantly the pivot role) that helped him stick with the team. Could he be the 4th line centre moving forward?
~ Both Mike Kostka and Sheldon Brookbank played well in their short stints in that bottom pairing with Nick Leddy. The Hawks have to like their options on the backend.
~ Matt Moulson – take a breath. He just welcomed the birth of his son and now he’s off to Chicago and his coach calls him a “game-time” decision. I think dude should enjoy his first day with his son. No?
~ Is Tomas Hertl for real?
~ Is Joe Thorton funny?
~ Chicago is currently 7th in the league in the Goals for category and sitting 19th for Goal against through 3 games. I can’t see the latter sticking for long.
~ Weekend Predictions? Hawks win 4-2 tonight and lose 3-2 tomorrow night.
