On the eve before the MLB trading deadline 2 New York teams were busy, The Yankees and the Islanders.
GM Garth Snow sent a conditional 3rd round draft choice in 2011 to the Anaheim Ducks for 26 year old defenseman James Wisniewski. Wisniewski, who has split his career between the Ducks and a the Chicago Blackhawks,is a puck moving defenseman who has a nasty streak. He had 3 goals and 27 assists in 69 NHL games last year.
Excellent pickup by Garth Snow, who is clearly looking to put a much more physical team on the ice next season. By adding Konopka, Gillies, Yablonski, Wisniewski and with the physical Travis Hamonic waiting in the wings, the Islanders have added the needed muscle to support and protect the likes of Kyle Okposo and John Tavares.
