Red Wings Tear Down ‘Bulin Wall, Blank Oilers 3-0
Brick by brick, the Detroit Red Wings brought down the ‘Bulin Wall as they solved Edmonton Oilers’ goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin. They did so for their third straight win as they blanked the Oilers 3-0 at the Joe Louis Arena. Jimmy Howard steered away all 24 shots for his third shutout of the season, tying the [...]

The Nashville Predators made their first trip of the season to the great white North, taking on the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place. In the Oilers, the Predators faced a young, talented, speedy squad that could be very dangerous with the puck. Sorta like what the Predators had hoped to be at the outset of [...]

Difference Makers, Hiding in the Shadows Here is a quick look at ten players who may wind up making the difference for their respective teams this season. RW. Ryan Smyth and what if…
Nearly a year after the Colorado Avalanche traded Ryan Smyth I can’t help but think…what if? What’s more irksome about the deal is that it was likely nothing more than a salary dump. Terry Frei of the Denver Post has said as much and has speculated that Greg Sherman would not have traded Smyth if [...]

Don’t stop believin’
The 2009-10 Los Angeles Kings have overcome not only their own issues as a team, but how the league viewed them heading into the season. Now, this Kings team is proving exactly what they are capable of; of course in “cardiac” style.
Sharks’ streak stumbles in Kings’ moat
Riding an eight-game win streak, the Sharks couldn’t have felt more confident facing the Los Angeles Kings at HP Pavilion for another Pacific Division showdown. Apparently the Kings didn’t feel like obliging because the Kings throttled the Sharks 6-2 behind Quick’s 45 saves and Drew Doughty’s four assists. Though they more than doubled the Kings [...]

Back in Action
The Christmas holiday has come and gone as did the eight days off for the Los Angeles Kings. How sweet is it? Sweet enough to get a win as Kings cool off hot Flames
It seemed as if it was going to be a long night for the Los Angeles Kings. That was until Jonathan Quick read my blogs. Seriously, Quick put on a performance, along with a brilliant defensive performance from the Kings blue line, especially one Rob Scuderi. You can look at the score sheet, but it [...]
Biron’s Trade Value Down?
Yes, it is still early to be talking about trading Marty Biron. But everyone who follows the Islanders closely knows that Rick DiPietro is on his way back by the end of the year. But let’s go over some of Biron’s statistics, shall we? Games played: 13 Wins : 2 Losses: 8 OT Losses: 2 [...]
Game 25 preview – Oilers receive a royal visit
It’s back to business for the Oilers tonight as they host the Los Angeles Kings. This will be the first meeting of the season for these two teams but of last season the Kings have really gave the Oilers real problems. In the four games between the two clubs last season the Oilers won just one, thanks to the loser point though they did manage to get a single point in one of the other three.
NHL Quarter Season Hardware Distribution Part 1
With every team now at the 20 game mark, I think now is a perfect time to reflect on the 09-10 season thus far and debate over who would be given the NHL hardware if the season were to end today. The six major awards (Hart, Norris, Vezina, Calder, and Jack Adams and Selke awards) [...]
