Tampa Bay Lightning Week in Review
The Tampa Bay Lightning are 1-2-2 with four points in their first five games. Certainly not the start they wanted. They are in fourth place in the Southeast Division, already four points behind the Washington Capitals and 11th in the Eastern Conference. After five games, defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron leads the team in goals (2), assists [...]
Wideman hospitalized; Depleted defense corps
Wideman was injured Tuesday night against Carolina. The injury occurred on a hit by Tuomo Ruutu that left Wideman in a heap on the ice. He was able to skate off under his own power, and the team called it a lower body injury. The diagnosis is a hematoma in his leg. Hematomas can be tricky because recovery time depends on the severity of the injury.
No need to rush Mike Green’s return
The good news surrounding the Capitals this week is more than just their current hot streak which has provided 10 wins in their last 11 games. Tomorrow will mark the day that Mike Green is eligible to come of the long term injured list. If Bruce Boudreau and George McPhee are smart, Mike Green won’t [...]

Blueline Musical Chairs
The Washington Capitals will soon be faced with a situation the most other GM’s in the NHL would love to face; an over-abundance of defenseman. The Capitals are currently without the services of Mike Green and Tom Poti, but all reports have them slated to return by the start of the playoffs at the latest. [...]
Confident Lightning Stay Quiet On Deadline Day
The Tampa Bay Lightning remained silent on this trade deadline day. Confidently silent. GM Steve Yzerman stayed ahead of the curve by filling the teams need for a goaltender (Dwayne Roloson), a power play quarterback (Marc-Andre Bergeron) and a big, puck moving defenseman (Eric Brewer) earlier in the season. Yzerman had deep discussions with many [...]
George McPhee delivers on deadline day
George McPhee made the trades on deadline day that will lift the Capitals back into the contender discussion. McPhee was able to acquire Dennis Wideman from the Florida Panthers, and Jason Arnott from the New Jersey Devil. In addition, the Caps acquired Marco Sturm off the waiver wire on Saturday from the Los Angeles Kings. [...]

The Boston Bruins acquire forward Nathan Horton from the Florida Panthers
According to a TSN text message (and Bob MacKenzie’s Twitter account), the Boston Bruins have acquired forwards Nathan Horton and Gregory Campbell in exchange for defenseman Dennis Wideman, the Bruins’ 2010 Draft Pick (15th overall) and a 3rd round draft pick in 2011. Horton has three years left on a six-year, $24 million contract extension [...]
Eastern Conference Round 2 Bruins v. Flyers: Observations From the Balcony
Now that I am living more than 4 hours outside of Boston I cherish the games I get to even more than I have in the past. This season I rode the roller coaster with the Bruins, and loved every moment of the historic Winter Classic at Fenway. I stood and cheered when the Bruins [...]
Bruins Take Series Lead Behind Bergeron’s Goal
If you’ve never heard the Bostonian’s version of the word ‘Miller’, both you and Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller certainly learned through repetition last night in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals at the TD Garden. Splitting two games a piece in Buffalo, the Sabres and Bruins returned to Boston in the Bruins’ first playoff [...]
B’s On Verge Of Playoffs After Beating Sabres
With Ryan Miller sitting on the bench for Buffalo along with Tim Connolly, Patrick Kaleta, and Thomas Vanek out of the line-up, and the New York Rangers breathing down the Bruins’ neck in the chase for the playoffs, the B’s knew these were two points that simply had to be had on the home ice [...]
From the Penthouse to the Bruins’ Doghouse – Michael Ryder
One of three bruins to dress every game this season, Bruins’ winger Michael Ryder may have finally landed himself in the doghouse of the overly patient Bruins’ coach Claude Julien. Prior to his departure from the Montreal Canadiens Ryder was a healthy scratch from the playoff series against the Bruins which saw the upstart B’s [...]
Disgusting: Boston “Fans” Lacking In Class & Knowledge
Growing up and seeing videos of the crowd at the Boston Garden, I remember the swelling feeling of pride and honor that came with being considered a hockey fan in the Boston area. Aptly dubbed the ‘Gallery Gods’, the die-hard’s that donned the black-and-gold apparel of the now seemingly-ancient confines of the Garden sitting on [...]
Bruins Lackluster Defense Burnt By Sabres
The 2009-10 Boston Bruins have been labeled many things. From ‘soft’ to ‘non-Bruin-like’, and have drawn comparisons to a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde club in the league. Replacing last season’s frequented ‘Savard to Kessel’ phrase, the Jekyll to Hyde side of the Bruins reared it’s head once again tonight in the Bruins’ 3-2 loss [...]
