Bloodbath Watch: Game 2, No Blood Just Thoughts.

Disappointment isn’t like a fine wine. Fine wines age, and though some aren’t that terrible at first, they are likely to go down easier the more the age. Disappointment.. well disappointment never gets easier, in fact sometimes it’s harder when, like my favourite band Gaslight Anthem sang, ‘some boys forget what heartache brings.’ Two on the road are hard to swallow, granted your never really worried until you lose at home but two on the road in one goal games are hardest.
Philadelphia has had some strong points so far, they’ve killed off some penalties, Mike Richards has played his heart out, Giroux has been stepping up as is Briere but there is far more worrisome aspects. Lets mention the fact they haven’t lead yet in the series, far too many penalties have been taken, and some sloppy defensive zone play. Game 1 was close, Game 2 was close but in the playoffs close doesn’t matter. Has the loss of Jeff Carter and Gagne been that great? Granted they are major players, and I shouldn’t disregard Lappy’s stellar play as he was a crucial pillar in what had been a solid house built against the Devils; but the Flyers are better than what we have seen. Even without those forwards they still have a deep top six.
It’s frustrating to watch, let alone play in it but who has the answer? Is this just a slow start from an elongated break? Or is this the beginning of the end? Are the B’s this good? Marc Savard the big of a boost? Whatever it is, the Flyers have a day off to figure it out and I sincerely suggest they do because you’re never really panicking until you lose one at home, so I hope for now it was just the water…
