Training camp is always a special time for me. It was so much fun to watch my son two years ago watching the players right from the glass as well as watching him being so extremely shy whenever the players autographed his jersey, got pucks from Dumont and Trotz, or when Dan Hamhuis gave him his broken stick from the preseason game the night before. Last season, my wife and newborn daughter joined us and watched as got another puck. It’s a special time for me, as a fan and father, to have these opportunities. On Friday, we’ll make that trip again- a family of fans watching their favorite team prepare for the upcoming season.
Prior to that trip to camp on Friday as a fan, however, I will have the honor and privilege of attending camp on Wednesday representing HockeyIndependent as a credentialed member of the media. This will represent a first for me and I’m looking forward to doing the best job I can for the fans of the Nashville Predators. Unfortunately, I can’t attend every day of camp (as a blogger or fan). Fortunately for the fans, however, the Predators have long embraced the “new media” brought forth by the internet and everyone has brought fresh perspectives with their coverage- as well as support for one another.
Along those lines of support, I thought I’d highlight all of the Predators media outlets I could think of to help the fan looking for information regarding those training camp battles. Many of them are on HI’s BlogRoll.
Lastly, but certainly not least, are the more “traditional” bloggers/journalists. The Tennessean brought on a new beat writer this season in Josh Cooper (@JoshuaCooper). Josh has been doing some great work via print articles, blogs and tweets.
Whew! That’s a long list of great writers out there covering your Nashville Predators. Unfortunately, I know I’ve forgot some others due to the late hour and I’ll add anyone I missed.
Hope to see everyone at camp later this week!
