Thanks Fred. Jury’s still out on Koistinen. I’m not ready to write him off but to your point he was disappointing last year. Given the defensive talent the Panthers have coming up, he’ll have to force his way on the team via improved play or he’ll play himself out of a job (in Florida at least).

Good summary of the Panthers’ situation, but don’t expect Koistinen to be part of the top-6 on defence as he was a major disappointment last season and played most of the season in the AHL. As a result, I believe to Panthers will use a rookie as their 6th defenseman, likely Garrison or Ellerby and sign a cheap veteran d-man to act as the 7th defenseman.
