NHL GOES HOLLYWOOD CONTEST RESULTS! And Announcing Our New Rumor Board!
BDGallof | Dec 18, 2009 | Comments 3
Announcing our first Hockey Independent contest winners, brought to you by our first addition to the website . . . .

Rumors are all over the place. Some make a living by them. We here at Hockey Independent have chosen to take a different spin on the rumors, providing a space to share, comment and get educated takes on those rumors by a bevy of experts, insiders and bloggers. Think of this as a true rumor central, where we convey what we heard, where, and what we think on it…and others will weigh in as well. We will have special guests take on some of those rumors you supply, including the great Lyle Richardson of Spector’s Hockey! Imagine, finally, not only can you all share what’s going around, but actually get responses by bloggers, educated insiders and real hockey rumor people on the merits or demerits of what we are all hearing.
We are pretty excited about this, and hope you are as well. Check out our new RUMOR BOARD page and make it your stop as you hear the latest radio, blog, or mainstream media rumor du jour. We here at Hockey Independent have made strides to make sure teams are covered well, and now we are making sure we can be your resource for as the rumors “hit the fan” as we move towards the Trade Deadline.
And now….our winners for our NHL Goes Hollywood Contest!

Third best is….

Lauren Bailey with this play off Kill Bill! Lauren did some spectacular pieces, but we felt this one conceptually on point, besides a great piece of work.

2nd prize goes to….and this was a tough one…literally….

Brandon Macdonald of PuckDrop.ca who does an amazing Photshop job of George Parros as Rocky Balboa! Brandon did some great pieces, but none was better than this take on a hockey icon as a movie toughie icon. Fit him perfectly. Bravo!
and now…

1st place, and bragging rights goes to…

Doug Philp with his rendition of Anchorman featuring The Mullet throwback himself, Barry Melrose! We hemmed and hawed between this and Parros. But a throwback mullet archetype posing as a movie about a throwback news archetype was simply too on the mark. Doug also had a bevy of excellent pieces.
Congratulations to our winners and thanks to all who submitted!
Email me for your choice of prizes, lady and gents. 1st place gets dibs, and then so on for…
Back To The Future DVD trilogy (we have 3 of these sets)
Blu Ray DVD of Full Metal Jacket (we have 2)
Blu Ray DVD of Blazing Saddles
Blu Ray DVD of for Vendetta
Blu Ray DVD of Oceans 11
or choose from an array of NHL DVDs like Tough Guys of the NHL and more…
Thank you all for the great submissions and our great three months since making this website live.
We have more prizes to give away this weekend and early next week.
Stick around, and give our new RUMOR BOARD a whirl.
