"Always put one in the brain!"

So, what does this mean come next CBA negotiations? Will the "old guard" attempt to overthrow the salary cap? Will the owners smell blood with all of this turmoil and go after guaranteed contracts, figuring that the union is too week from fighting themselves to fight them? To be honest, when it comes to the politics of the NHL, I really wish things were much more boring.

Great post.

Like you I think this could be the first sign of a very ugly battle between the players and owners when the current CBA expires before the 2011 season. With so much division within the players union I have no idea how a new CBA will be negotiated that the majority of the players will vote for. I hope I'm wrong but unless the union stabilizes - which would likely require concessions from both sides - we could easily be looking at another work stoppage.

Christ, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed. This is the only non-Isles piece I've written for the site, which is also published on the Huffington Post. Lighten up, Kev.

So are you ever going to write a blog on the ISLANDERS again? Or do we need to here about the NHLPA from now on. No one gives a c**p about the NHLPA.
