I should make very clear I am a fan of Katie Strang. Katie is a good young writer who is doing a good job. She has great journalism chops, though I'd love to see her get the investigative instincts and acuity that team sports really also need so as to have pieces that don't precisely fit the hopes and expectations of team PR and brass.

Who is this Newsday you speak of? I only hear of them when it's mentioned on a message board or blog after the fact.

NYI should move to Queens and forget the Lighthouse project. Queens is best for NYI while Nassau is sadly best for Wang.

I'm going to say that commenter Nick is more or less correct in that the results of the poll are going to be slanted. It would also be amazing if Newsday were to put the poll on its site, I'd love to see the results.
That being said, what I really would've loved to see is an "both" option or something similar. Most of the info I get on the Lighthouse I get from the blogosphere. However, it's basically a 50/50 split for hockey info in general. Though, I barely get anything beyond Katie Strang's blog. Would've preferred to mark it down that way.
Also, that Eden Lakin writes mean e-mails.

actually, if our little paper writer had some balls, they'd ask for the code so to put that same poll there too.

But if you think the answer will be a runaway avalanche like it was here in the opposite direction, you are much mistaken.

Do you really feel the poll will be accurate in any way? Of course the blogosphere will win. And if a similar poll were conducted in Newsday, Newsday would win.

How could Newsday readers who don't read hockey blogs vote here, and vice versa? Or have I missed something? (Always a strong possibility)

Sadly, the mainstream press has not always treated the blogosphere as a partner in this - we're not trying to compete, we're just trying to sift through the nonsense and get down to the truth.
Crackhead Theo - I hope you make it over to Let There Be Light(house); I had something about the mediation offer, but it's all good. I hope you'll come by the site in the future, but it's no big deal.

Nice work BD. I will say with all honesty that 100% of the info I find out about on the Lighthouse I get form the Blogosphere, not Newsday. The only thing I saw in Newsday that I did not see in any blog is the offer of mediation but I dont think anything ever came of that I believe.
