CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -As the Chicago Blackhawks seemingly can’t lose and the season speeds by let’s go back to last spring. Analysts around the NHL as well as many Hawk fans thought Corey Crawford was a weak link. The popular thinking was GM Stan Bowman needed to upgrade his starting goaltender position, and Ray Emery was no more than an adequate backup. So far popular opinion couldn’t have been more off base.On Sunday night, Crawford came back from an 11-day hiatus, due to an apparent concussion, and was sharp as a tack. It was a good thing Crawford was so good or the lowly Columbus Blue Jackets would have ended the Chicago point streak. When the final horn sounded the Hawks skated away with a hard fought 1-0 victory, and extended their point streak record to 18 games.
Steve Mason, the Blue Jackets starting goaltender perfectly described the Blackhawks season. His post game comments are taken from ChicagoBlackhawks.com.
“They’re a great team. Right from their goaltending, both of them, defense, forwards, all the way through. They have guys that are superstars in this league and they are playing like it right now. For any team that comes in here, especially in this arena, it’s a tough place to play and they’re making it even harder,” Mason said.
