		<description>Unfortunately, all respect for mutual safety is lost in the heat of battle and competition on the ice.  Yet, I think it&#039;s ridiculous that players try to justify hits to an opponent&#039;s head with elbows or hands up, claiming they were moving too fast to get their hands down.
 
Even if a hit is a &quot;clean&quot; hit as defined by the rule book, players know or should know the difference between a needed check to knock their man off the puck and one that has nothing to do with the play and is purely for the sake of &quot;finishing the check&quot; but could potentially seriously injure the opponent.
 
This lack of care and respect for an opponent will eventually lead to something truly, unspeakably tragic on the ice much like Bill Masterson&#039;s death.</description>
