Hossa Back….Crawford Out Sick

The word out of the morning skate…

Marian Hossa and Viktor Stalberg return to action tonight. Marty Turco gets the start as Corey Crawford is sick.

Hannu Toivonen was recalled fom Rockford and will back-up Turco. Patrick Kane is still out and has been placed on Injured Reserve.

The Blue Jackets are coming off an embarassing loss to the Canucks. They will be highly motivated and Turco will need to be up to the challenge.

It is being reported that Johnson and Hendry are the healthy scratches. I’m surprised Q would sit Johnson (unless he’s ailing) especially over Scott but I guess Q likes what Scott means as a deterrent.

It seemed that Johnson was destined to be the 4th line centre so I don’t understand why he’s out – do you know anything?

I’ll have to bow to Q’s superior grasp of the game for now.

With Johnson out who plays centre? – maybe Kopecky between Hossa and Stalberg with the Sharp-Toews-Brouwer combo kept intact.

The only reason besides injury is the Jackets have a few agitators…They are coming off a very bad loss…Their coach said it was the poorest effort he has seen while there.

So they will do what ever they have to…including trying to run a couple of guys.

Johnson will get his chance soon…He could have an injury although I haven’t heard that to be the case.

It wouldn’t be my choice…But if they are going to pay Scott then tonight’s opponent as well as against the Blues are games he probably should play in.

This will be interesting, to say the least.

Jared Boll, Raffi Torres and Derrick Brassard are notorious for getting nasty…Sheriff Big John and Jake ‘The Snake’ Dowell may be busy!

Al, not a picture-perfect win by any means, but the Hawks get a key two points against a Division foe…now they have to repeat the feat in St. Louis.

Good to see Turco get the win, and to have The Hoss Man back.

Can Hawks fans begin to feel optimistic?

  4. Al Cimaglia says:

I think there is room for optimism…

But nothing to get too excited about…5 points out of 1st and three points out of 9th. Unfortunately eveyone except the Ducks have played fewer games.

    Blog coming this afternoon…

Not good news re: Morin, per TSN reporting on the World Juniors…

“Sources say Team USA winger Jeremy Morin, on loan from the Chicago Blackhawks’ AHL farm team in Rockford, apparently suffered a shoulder injury that could be significant. Team USA officials refused to comment on the severity of the injury but there are unconfirmed reports Morin may be finished for the duration of the tournament.”
