Blackhawk Update

On January 26 I wrote a scenario could play out between the Hawks and Leafs whereby Cristobal Huet would end up in Toronto. Five days later the Leafs found their new number one goalie and acquired J.S. Giguere.
There was rumor going around today which seems impossible. This story had the Leafs interested in acquiring Huet.
If Huet ended up in Toronto they would have over $11 milllion in cap space tied up in the goalie position alone. As unlikely as that scenario appears don’t discount the Leafs and Hawks becoming trade partners.
I am hearing rumblings and they could make a trade without Huet being involved, which would be feasible.
The Hawks could be involved in a big deal as the Vokoun chatter doesn’t stop. The Niedermayer possibilitie still exist also, if he were to agree to a trade.
Another possible Blackhawk trade partner is the Hurricanes. They have made deals in the past.
Because there are so few sellers and many teams are hamstrung due to cap consequences a multi-team trade or two by tomorrow appears more likely.
General managers may have to get very creative.
Back later if need be….
